Technician Intern

Objective: Interns understand the organization, its business, culture, and where the Technician function fits within it.Topics: Introduction to the company's profile, structure, and products/services, along with its culture and values, giving interns the context needed to see how Engineering/Technician functions support safe and reliable operations across the organization.Activities: Department/site visits or shadowing sessions, Q&A with Engineering team members, orientation quiz or reflection write-up.

Objective: Interns understand the theory and frameworks behind each part of their specific job description before executing it. Topics: Core engineering theory covering electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facility systems basics, preventive maintenance principles, technical documentation and drawing standards, and safety and quality compliance in maintenance work.Activities: Case study discussions, review of sample maintenance reports and technical drawings, mock inspection exercise.

Objective: Apply maintenance theory to real facility systems.Tasks: Assist in the installation, inspection, and preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facility systems.Output: A completed preventive maintenance log for an assigned set of systems or equipment.

Objective: Apply documentation standards to real engineering work.Tasks: Prepare engineering documentation, technical drawings, project calculations, and maintenance reports.Output: A completed documentation package (drawings/reports) for an assigned maintenance or project task.

Objective: Ensure safety and quality compliance across facilities and equipment.Tasks: Support routine inspections and maintenance of facilities, operational equipment, utility systems, and vehicles, and assist in troubleshooting technical issues.Output: A completed inspection checklist and troubleshooting log for an assigned area.

Objective: Independently support a small maintenance or project cycle, integrating everything learned.Tasks: Support an engineering project or maintenance cycle end-to-end (across Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil functions as applicable), monitor equipment performance and project schedules, and present a mini case study of the project/task supported.Output: Final presentation covering the engineering task/project they supported, plus a reflection on lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement, this can double as their internship report closing material.
