Warehouse Operations & Inventory Control Intern

Studying the warehouse process flow end-to-end, including inbound, putaway, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and outbound. Understanding workplace safety rules (Safety), 5S/5R, warehouse layout, operational KPIs, and an introduction to the Warehouse System used by the company.

Learning the principles of inventory management, FIFO/FEFO methods, cycle counting, stocktaking, inventory control, and identifying causes of stock discrepancies. Participants will do observation and analyze inventory data to support improving stock accuracy.

Getting involved in the receiving process, checking documents and physical goods, quality checking, putaway, and placing items in the right storage location. Participants will understand the importance of data accuracy and correct storage locations in supporting warehouse operations.

Identifying warehouse operational issues like picking errors, stock discrepancies, long processing times, or less than optimal use of storage space. Participants will come up with improvement proposals using problem solving and continuous improvement methods.

Supporting the implementation of process improvements or simple digitalization in the warehouse area, such as monitoring dashboards, operational reporting, barcode utilization, or visual management. Participants will evaluate the results, prepare project documentation, and present achievements and recommendations to management and process owners.
