Software Engineer Intern

Learn what the Managed Talent Platform does, who uses it, and how the parts fit together: web apps, GraphQL APIs, background workers, PostgreSQL, and the data lake. Set up the local development environment and learn the team's Git, merge request, and code review workflow, and how we use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex) to plan, write, and review code. Finish the month with a small "first merge request" task guided by a mentor.

Fix small bugs and build small features in the Go backend. Learn the module structure, how to write database migrations, how to add GraphQL schema and resolvers, and how to write unit tests. Use AI coding agents to draft code and tests, then check their output yourself before every merge request and code review with the team.

Build and fix user interface pages in the Next.js apps. Learn the shared component library, GraphQL client code generation, forms and validation, and how to check the result against the design prototype, including with AI tools that read the design and the browser. Ship small features that touch both the frontend and the backend.

Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for the features built so far, using AI agents to draft test cases and to review code for bugs. Learn how GitLab CI pipelines and Kubernetes review apps work, and how a change moves from merge request to staging to production. Learn how to read logs and alerts and how to handle a production issue safely with a mentor.

ake one scoped feature from the team roadmap and own it. Clarify the requirements with the product owner, write a short technical plan, use AI coding agents to build the backend and frontend from that plan, write tests, and take it through QA and release. The mentor reviews each step.

Use AI agents to work through the maintenance backlog faster: dependency upgrades, performance fixes, code clean-up, and documentation. Present the feature project to the team. Write a handover document so the team can continue the work after the internship ends.
